About Nagoya University of the Arts

As the only private “university” of the arts, NUA aims to cultivate persons of talent with rich sensibility and creativity, and to foster human resources who contribute to creation and development of the art, culture, and human development.
Many NUA alumni are contributing to the society as creators, performers,designers, and educators, utilizing specialized knowledge and professional skills they studied at NUA.

School of the Arts, Department of the Arts

The School of the Arts develops sufficient learning environment to foster specialists in Music, Art, Design, and Arts & Culture, and to encourage students to acquire skills to see the Arts from global perspective.
SOA aims to train professionals who are capable of fully demonstrating their potentials in creativity, productivity, and expressivity in answer to demand from the society, and contributing to the society across borders in the future.

Music Division

The Music Division encourages its students to cultivate rich sensitivity and humanity, and to open up their own potentials.
There are 9 courses in the division, and the students are aspired to become performing artists, composers, music producers, sound engineers, music therapists, etc.

Performing Arts Production and Management Division

This devision encourages students to learn stage art and technology, as well as planning and production.
There are three courses in the department, which develop professionals who have acquired specialized skills and comprehensive knowledge about performing arts.

Art Division

The Art Division encourages its students to acquire an eye for art and to cultivate individuality and creativity.
There are 3 courses in the division, and the students face themselves and discover their paths to choose through expression.

Design Division

The Design Division encourages its students to learn design that colors every scene in the society.
There are 11 courses in the division, and the students aim to learn significance of design and to become creators who are capable of contributing to the society with new ideas.

Arts and Liberal Arts Division

Making liberal arts the theme, the Arts and Liberal Arts Division develops a new style of learning, and fosters human resources with new artistry and prospectiveness conforming to the age.

School of Education, Department of Children's Studies

The School of Education encourages its students to cultivate rich sensitivity and acquire professional skills through abundant practical trainings.
The students are aspired to become professionals in childcare and education who bear the children’s future.
